As a certified Women-Owned Business (WBENC), PTG is excited to highlight just a few of the women within our organization who break the boundaries. Be sure to check back for weekly updates.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT WORKING AT A WOMAN OWNED BUSINESS?

My creative superpowers are all valued and appreciated working at PTG. We seek out other diversity partners and are proud to represent Women Owned businesses in our partnerships with other companies seeking to empower real women.  We have partnered with American Eagle for over 15 years as a diversity partner.

WHAT DO YOUR HOBBIES INCLUDE?

Painting, drawing, rubber stamping, card making, reading, knitting — but who has much time for any of these right now!?

WHAT IS YOUR LIFE MOTTO?

 Kindness is free.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF BEING A WOMAN IN TECHNOLOGY?

My favorite part is that I am never bored. Things are always changing, and there are new challenges to face.  Working through the challenges and “rolling with the changes” only promotes growth. I love learning and don’t want to become stagnant. Don’t get me wrong, it can be nice to be in a comfort zone, but it will stunt personal growth if you never step out of it. I think it’s important to always be moving forward even when it’s not easy. It is the only way to thrive, versus just surviving.

IF YOU COULD HAVE A SUPERPOWER, WHAT WOULD IT BE AND WHY?

To be able to fly — so I could see the awesome view and to get where I want to go faster!

IF YOU COULD LEARN A NEW SKILL TODAY, WHAT WOULD YOU WANT TO LEARN?

I would learn how be a car mechanic.

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR WOMEN LOOKING TO LAUNCH THEIR CAREERS?

Three things:

  1. Say yes.
  2. Put in the work.
  3. Be a team player.
You should always be open to opportunities, even if they aren’t necessarily what you may have imagined yourself doing — the worst that can happen is that you learn something you can use to make yourself successful in future roles.  Or you never know, it could turn into a career path you love!  You don’t get anywhere without putting the necessary hard work in and being a team player.  Throughout your career you will need the help of others and others will need your help to get the job done.  So even when you may not “show up” for yourself, you do so for your team.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST JOB AND HOW OLD WERE YOU?

I cleaned tanning salon beds when I was 12.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MONTH OF THE YEAR AND WHY?

I love the first month after all season changes.  It's amazing how exciting a crisp breeze, the first snowfall or that first warm summer day after a long winter can feel.

OUTSIDE OF WORK YOU SPEND YOUR TIME VOLUNTEERING, CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT YOUR EFFORTS?

My parents instilled in me the importance of helping others and the fact that each one of us can make a difference! Currently,  I am working to bring awareness to the human trafficking crisis in Oakland County, finding foster homes for abandoned animals and securing donations for homeless Veterans. My parents and I deliver Meals on Wheels and my Dad and I rehab homes for the less fortunate. In the past, I have fostered animals, helped facilitate donations to area shelters, provided free tutoring to those in need, packed and delivered sack lunches to the homeless and hosted/worked many events to raise money for local families and organizations in need.

IF YOU COULD ASSEMBLE YOUR DREAM CONCERT, WHO WOULD BE THE LINEUP?

Led Zeppelin, The Doors and The Rolling Stones.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE YOUR YOUNGER SELF?

Wear sunscreen!
