The first impression is a lasting one. Both new and existing clients must receive a warm welcome when they arrive at your gym. This may seem like a given, but many places forget this simple business protocol.

An easy tip for creating a warm welcome is to have your staff welcome clients by name as they check-in.  This helps create a community where the client feels there is a relationship and shows it's not just a transaction. Most clients will know their name popped up on the computer screen, but it's a nice personal touch that can set the tone for their whole experience at your business.

That warm welcome will create positive energy that will carry with them as the clients work out – even if they were initially dreading coming to the gym.

KEEP THE POSITIVE ENERGY FLOWING

An easy way to keep the positive energy flowing is through video and music.

Someone who is pumped up is more likely to continue working out and not get bored or distracted. Once someone gets bored, they’re likely to walk out your doors – maybe even permanently.

The goal is to keep clients engaged with the workout process and create an atmosphere they enjoy coming to.

Because of those who aren’t wearing headphones, you’ll want to make sure the music you are playing fits with the type of activity your clients are doing. The music in the lifting zone should be different than the music around the walking track or cardio zone. And it's definitely going to be different than what is played in the yoga studio.
